Hamlet's Tragic Flaws
Hamlet has some strange tragic flaws; he is rash, but he also over thinks things. Some also say that Hamlet is a coward.
Hamlet's "Errors In Action"
In the beginning of the play the reader and/or viewer soon learns that Hamlet's father has died, but we do not know under what circumstances. We are soon introduced to a ghost that says it is the spirit of Hamlet's father and it has come to tell Hamlet his father was murdered and Hamlet needs to get revenge. Hamlet then says that the ghosts revenge is now his revenge. This is Hamlet's first act of hamartia. It then takes Hamlet the entire play to work up the nerve to kill his father's murderer, who happens to be his uncle, but also his step-father because his mother married his uncle when his father died. This is where Hamlet's tragic flaws of being a coward and over thinking things comes into play, he spends so long thinking about how to kill his uncle/father that he goes crazy. This is a second sort of error in action; he had many chances to kill his uncle, but because he was to busy coming up with a plan, he did not kill him then, and then things just began to fall apart for Hamlet.
